Kathryn R Martin is a catalyst for moments of transformational shift and breakthroughs.  Under her leadership since 2020, The Santa Barbara Symphony is experiencing unprecedented growth in attendance, subscribers and revenue; reversing historical declines and repairing relationships with musicians and community stakeholders.

With a 30-year career leading and consulting with non-profit arts & culture organizations during times of transition and change, Kathryn was one of this country’s top professional Interim CEO’s and transition strategists; supervising, training, and coaching professional interim leaders placed in arts and culture organizations across the United States.  She's held 15 Interim CEO roles that include the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Milwaukee, Linda Pace Foundation in San Antonio, and University of California San Diego's Artpower.  Kathryn is a respected resource on revenue-generation, community engagement and collaboration, and has led ten arts organizations through turnarounds as a professional Interim CEO.

Kathryn served as Vice President of a national Arts consulting firm for 12 years, led the successful merger creating the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus, and was Managing Director of La Jolla Music Society and SummerFest La Jolla where she increased contributed income by 160% in four years and earned income increases of 103% over the same period. Kathryn oversaw capital improvement projects and more than 250 events annually as the Production and Facilities Manager at the Department of Music, University of California San Diego.
